Narrative Parallels make my life….
I think one of my favorite things about this particular parallel throughout the series is that you can actually see the maturity and growth as both individuals and in their relationship. Clark progresses from nerves/trepidation to intense determination to put things into action to finally looking completely at peace and relaxed knowing that they are finally together. Lois is doing busy work in each scene and he’s watching her doing busy work without her knowing it. But look at the change in her. She goes from longing for a partner both personally and professionally, to dealing with professional rejection to finally being completely at peace both in her career and in her personal life.
Mary, that is some absolutely WONDERFUL commentary! I absolutely agree. You very much see their progression both as separate characters and as a couple in these scenes. I love how secure Lois and Clark were in themselves and their love by the end of the series. They both grew up so much. <3
