“I’m in love with drawing. It runs blood with drawing cells through my veins. My DNA is made of: sketch, pencils and inks, heeheehee. This defines me, drawing is the most important thing in my life. It is my superhero power. The super and details freak AL RIO. Thanks to my good God, my mission here on Earth is drawing.”
—Al Rio (1962-2012)
Rest in peace Al Rio.
I always meant to do an appreciation post for how Al Rio drew Lois and Clark, because I really feel he captured their relationship better than almost any artist out there. Even when the scene he was drawing them in was a very typical one, he always evoked such a strong sense of the characters and their personalities. I love his art.

Al Rio drew the BEST Lois & Clark, seriously. Even when he drew them in the most cliched poses, he would add these little details and amazing facial expressions that just showed how clearly he understood these characters and their relationship. He had so much talent.
*Reminds self to get up Al Rio Appreciation Post in the next few days*
