Unpopular opinion: If DC insists on updating the classic Superman costume, I wish they’d go with the version currently being seen in Smallville: Season 11 (right) as opposed to the current New 52 version (left).
Why? Well, for one, having yellow accents on the belt makes the yellow on his S-symbol chest insignia look less random.
Secondly, it doesn’t have the stupid collar that DC decided to give everybody in the New 52.
And lastly, it’s lighter-looking and less armored than the New 52 look, which makes sense to me considering that Clark doesn’t need armor in the first place.
Now, personally I see no reason to get rid of the old underpants-over-tights look, which did fine for 73 years. But if they’re going to update it, I think the Smallville:S11 look gets it more right.
Regardless of which look you like better, though, there’s one thing about Clark’s costume which should always be canon in my book:

Day 1 — Favorite Quote about Lois Lane
“When we first meet her, Lois Lane is already one of the greatest and most famous reporters in the world…she’s just that good, and she’s that good because (as is obvious even to those without X-Ray vision) her Hildy Johnson Front Page smartass attitude is about three angstroms thick, and beneath it is a woman of remarkable compassion.”—Mark Waid’s notes in Birthright
THIS IS ALSO MY FAVORITE LOIS LANE QUOTE.
This blog will be a Lois Lane blog until further notice.
AMEN to that!

You know what I love the most about this scene?
Clark’s smile as he’s listening to Lois talk. Especially that sixth gif: look at that.
He already knows her story, of course. But that doesn’t matter: He’s just utterly happy to sit there and listen to her talk, and soak in her enthusiasm and her attitude and her total Lois-ness, and you almost feel like it wouldn’t matter what she was talking about, if it was important to her then Clark would like nothing better than to stay there and listen to her tell him about it all day.
Now that, my friends, is a man who is truly in love. <3

Teri Hatcher, Dana Delany & Erica Durance tweeted their love for Lois Lane and helped fans trend #LoisLane75yrs!
Oh, this is SO wonderful to see. <3
I think one of the loveliest things is that over the years, Lois has been played by so many actresses who just really love and respect her as a character. And I’m really happy that Amy Adams is going to be continuing that trend as the latest Lois - she’s said in interviews how she’s wanted to be Lois Lane ever since she was a little girl, and auditioned for three different Superman adaptations before she finally got her chance to be Lois. That’s just so cool, and so heartwarming, to me. Lois is such a great character, and I love to see that all these lovely actresses who have played her love her just as much as we do.

“Valkyrie” part 1 of 4! When Lois Lane accepts an assignment outside of Metropolis, she gets more than she bargained for. Follow the Daily Planet’s star reporter to the Congo as she investigates the Angel of the Plateau. It marks the debut of Lana Lang in the Smallville comic!

… guys…
Guys
GUYS
THE HAIR TIES ARE EVEN THE SAME
YOU GUYS
GUYS IT’S BB STEPH
it’s official! Yay!
I swear to gawd, Miller will not be stopped!!!! I simply love this man.
So much love for this man. <3
I love that it’s not just an unspoken cameo, either. She gets to have an actual conversation with Lois, and her personality is spot-on for bb!Steph, too. I love it. :-)
As a longtime Smallville fan, I also have to give Lois major credit for the fact that her skills in interacting with children have improved a LOT since the days of the show. xD
Also, <3 over what Lois says about Clark.
The way Lois hugs him and they fall over… I CANT HANDLE IT! Such a nice moment:’)
This NEVER gets old. I wish we had a Superman, a superhero, who was willing to emotionally risk in the new 52.
^ Completely agreed. Ultimately, Clark’s decision to tell Lois the truth was a sign of the fact that he respected her and trusted her, and that being with her was important enough to him that any potential risk was worth it. That’s what made him revealing his identity to her such a huge moment - on this show, and in the comics.
I still remember watching this scene when the episode first came out. I was just barely getting into comics then (thanks to this show), and I thought it was one of the most romantic things I’ve ever seen. I still think so.
And I really wish we could see this again in the New 52 as well.

they kill me with their faces! Lois’ contentment and Clark’s beaming happiness. I swear i could imagine sunbeams shooting from his eyes and mouth with how happy he is. Gah they are so cute.. I’d never have imagined Lois running and hugging Clark in s4..but there she is latching on to him like he is the best thing since sliced bread (that saying is so weird) and in Supergirl, I love her nervousness before approaching him and just the whole way they huge. my insides are officially melted goo from the adorkable factor of these two. I’m pretty sure my otp is plotting to kill me with their awesomeness.
I would comment here, but Clark’s smile in that last gif just slayed me. I am dead.
Seriously, how are they even so adorable?!

Best.parallel.ever.
And here we have two of my all-time favorite OTPs being flawless. <3
Although I think a crucial difference is that Lois and Clark never truly hated each other. They got on each other’s nerves at first (this is already different from other versions of canon where Clark liked Lois immediately), but I don’t think they ever truly disliked each other as human beings. Whereas Lizzy really did hate Darcy at first - for the way he hurt Jane, and for what she thought he did to Wickham, until she learned the real story.
Both amazing couples, but their stories are very different, I think, despite some parallels.

You know what we all need more of in our lives? Clark/Lois hugs. <3
Say what you want about Smallville, these are the versions of these characters and their relationship that I originally fell in love with. And they are what led to me falling in love with superheroes in general.
And you know what? When I look back at this now, I still think they’re completely awesome. SV!Clark and Lois will alwayshave a very special place in my heart. <3
(I’ll stop rambling now, sorry.)

Tell us how you really feel, Lois.
Meanwhile, the look of horror on Clark’s face behind her is what makes this.
“But but..It’s Valentine’s Day. We should be having dinner… by Candlelight.”
That’s his actual quote in the episode.
Oh, this whole thing just makes me laugh so much. xD Could they be any more perfect?!

Lois Lane: Amy Adams in Man of Steel and Erica Durance in Smallville
I did notice that her styling here seems rather Durance-inspired. Honestly, I think she looks great. She looks like Lois, and that’s the best compliment I can give.
Really excited for Man of Steel. :-)
